It says its "arriving" probably mening that the company piles up on preorders then buys plenty of stock for a discount from akrapovic. Nothing wrong with that but the wait can be rather long. Do you have to pay in advance its not a good choice I would say. But maybe I am wrong and then I will be the first to buy one from them :)
 
Think Akra for MT is sold in Europe only though Yama dealers. The pic on CarpiMoto shows the aftermarket version with coloured logo, sold in US and Canada, can explain lower price. Call and ask for availability if you are interested. I have done business with them before and it was all good.
 
I have emailed the retailers in Italy and they say that the Akra carbon S-Y7R2-AFC won´t be avalible until august because Akra is working in this system. Don´t even have a picture on it how it looks. But they sell It on Ebay :confused:
 
Just to say that having lived with the Arrow system for a little while and done a cross section of town and open road riding. (with the DB Killers in place) and the sound is certainly not oppressive. Indeed quite the opposite. Round town it gives enough noise to wake up car drivers you might be overtaking and a quick blip of the throttle is more than enough to bring them around from whatever daydream they may be in. Out on the open road the noise seems do diminish till you don't really notice it at all. Crack open the throttle though and you get a nice satisfying roar and that wonderful off beat V Twin sound, superb... Been past a few police cars and beat officers and no one seems to take any real interest.

Can't say I've really noticed any performance difference worth a mention but I'm still being fairly gentle with the bike as I've not yet quite hit 700mls.

As for it scraping the ground, falling off or any other mechanical issue.... Nothing to report, seems just fine.

From a purely subjective point of view it's a MASSIVE improvement over the original Yamaha system.

PS.... Under bridges is great fun.
 
This is how I'm thinking: Since the MT is my wifes bike, I think it will be faster with stock exhaust. I guess anything louder will just make her think she is going fast, resulting in her slowing down. So touring wind screen and silent exhaust will make her bike "faster", making it more exiting for me when riding together :-)
My TDM is LOUD and I like that sound alot, doesn't make me slow down at all.
 
Still waiting for my MT-07 but on Wednesday I went out with my friend (me on a rented YBR125) and him on a CBR1000RR with an aftermarket can. The traffic was really bad at one point, so he started to teach me how to filter slowly. With his pretty loud exhaust a quick blip of the throttle would waken all but the most zombified/asleep driver to make space for us. When I tried it alone my 125's exhaust got pretty much no-one's attention. I'm guessing the MT-07's exhaust is a little more meaty than a YBR125's but the experience convinced me to get an aftermarket exhaust. After lots of reading and youtubing i'm going to order an Arrow Full System Thunder Carby Darkline. I live in the UK - can anyone recommend where to get it at the best price?
 
Had Akra fitted on Monday along with first service, a different bike for me all together, revs more easily and the power delivery is far smoother and seems to accelerate quicker also, the torque at mid range revs has also increased

Experimented with db killer in and out, settled for out, not much difference with power etc but just a better soundtrack especially through a tunnel which happens to be on my way home from work

Fitted with the cat, two reasons, doesn't give Yamaha anything to try to wriggle out of a warranty claim in the future if needed and also informed the insurance company of the change and they asked is it a road legal exhaust, with the cat gets ec compliance, so again nothing for them to try and refuse an insurance claim if needed

Nowhere does it mention not road legal if db killer removed, Yamaha actually advertise it with removable baffle on their own accessory website

Couple other mods this week led sidelight fitted, full hid headlight conversion, mirror extenders and short levers

Just three things left to do now, screen, billet covers for the holes in the frame and billet chain adjusters, chain adjusters a bit excessive on cost but they do incorporate the rear spindles so able to use paddock stand to adjust the chain and ease cleaning

That's it then finished spending on it

Love your bike! It's exactly what I want mine to look like. LED sidelight = dipped beam? Please can you provide the names/manufacturers of the LED sidelight, HID conversion, mirror extenders, short levers and tail tidy?
 
Mirror extenders were from ebay as was the side light bulbs and the levers the links are below, please note I have no vested interest in these sellers

The tail tidy is the genuine Yamaha licence plate holder without the extension arm fitted

Bit dear at £100 but it fits perfectly with full instructions and no cutting any plastics etc. Allow a good few hours to fit this as it is a good strip down of the rear end of the bike

The HID kit I do sell in my car audio/security shop
Fitting is not to simple because of lack of space
Seat off first, both tank side panels and then the petrol cap surround and of course the head light
First step fit the bulb to the headlight and put it aside
Fit the ballast and the control unit on the passenger side of the tank just behind tall control unit
the ballast and the control unit plug together, you then need to run the new headlight bulb wiring and the loom with the connector to connect to the original headlight wiring, this runs around the head stock so care to be taken to route as to not foul the steering, I attached to the original wiring loom. The new bulb wiring is only just long enough to reach
Once this is run and secured you can re-fit the headlight
The only wires left now are the power wires which run to the battery, the kit will come with a 20amp fuse installed but will not draw anywhere near this so don't worry about battery usage. You will need to extend the earth wire as this is not long enough to reach the battery or earth it on a suitable bolt within reach
The bulb will run at a very high voltage but this is done within the ballast unit, the kit will draw less current from the battery than the original bulb, as voltage increases current draw decreases
 
I was at West London Yamaha on Saturday and they have an MT-07 with the Akra system on it, which doesn't have the baffle fitted. They very kindly took the bike outside to demo the exhaust to me. Seriously, it took a few hours for my ears to stop hurting it was just so ridiculously loud. I'm going to ride mine with the factory exhaust for a while, hear the Arrow and the Akra (with baffle fitted) and then make up my mind. Def not Akra without baffle for me though!!
 
i have had the Akra fitted for a couple of weeks now and i had the baffle taken out find it much better to be heard when riding was too dangerous without esepcially when filtering.
 
That's apparently the only Scorpion one on the planet. The lady owner and the bike are often to be found in Matlock Bath. It sounds as good as it looks.

Great! I e-mailed Scorpion a while back about release date and this is what they responded:

"Jigs and fixtures are still to be completed, product should be available within a couple of weeks."
 
Looks like its running light by looking at the color on exhaust pipes. Better to wait for some proper fitted ones to come out. Sound is important but engine performance i more important for me anyway.
 
Good news scorpion to make exhausts in next few weeks the more producers the more competitive the price will be :-)
 
Hi....just had the Akrapovic fitted....looks fantastic,but slightly nervous of how loud it is without the baffles in....but still little noise with baffle in,maybe it's not loud and I've just got used to the quiet stock can? What's everyone's thoughts on baffle in or out?
 
Hi, I bought my Akrapovic today. The shop recommended to take the baffler out. They did that for me. I drove for an hour or so and I came to the conclusion: TOO LOUD. So I put the baffler back in, but before doing so, I drilled two small holes (4mm) in each of the baffler pipes. This way I can retract the baffler whenever I want, without damaging the exhaust or the baffler itself. I made some kind of pulley extractor from some old sports equipment (see photo :). It worked really well!

by the way, it's a nerv breaking job to allign the threaded hole with the bigger hole for the little screw.


I'm going to modify my baffler in the near future. Not sure how. May be cut off the pipes at the flange, or drill a few holes in pipes?
