MT-07 Exhaust Sound & Essential Mods


Ok work is done , i goes to Yamaha oficial shop ( Poland Position ) , they it make in 40 mim , mechanic say it was easy and make it rly clean , look like oem .
Sound it awsome it is rly loud without db killer . It sound like V8 Mustang with sport exhaust like you know what i mean . I make video but it have poor sound quality and is not like on live .

So dont fear short Arrow :D

looks really good!! any chance you need to adjust the engine for that exhaust? And do you have catalaysator installed?

I've only read about it. The problem with it, as you may already know, is that it's not approved for road use.

I've ordered the titanium version with catalyst, it's quite a bit more expensive, but I prefer to keep everything road legal. Also, I'm fond of having the warranty still in place.

Why wouldn't the carbon version be legal? It is for the MT 09? Its just a different version of the titanium one?
 
Nice job! what would be the difference between the Arrow carbon (71817MK) and the alu dark (71817AKN), accept the price and the carbon look?

Nothing , 0 diference on + or - . Today i was make 40 km in city trafic and this heavy sound is little tiring and now i got headache . I need buy ear plugs or install db killer if i will go to some trip outside town . But huge advantage is all car drivers can hear and feel me ( yes is like earthquake lol ) so it is safe for me .

I can't say for sure, but according to the website (my interpretation), it's not homologated and therefore has no EC/ECE type approval and doesn't seem to be EPA noice compliant.
Maybe there's a cost associated with these type of approvals, and they want people to be able to buy it cheaper if they don't need to match these standards for their bike?

If there's any real difference between the two, I can't tell.

Edit: maybe it just hasn't gone through all these approvals yet. Either way, it's a bit cheaper, might be worth it for some. I prefer the looks of the titanium one, at least when it comes to MT-09.

Yes the DB-killer would be the thing for me, just need a little more rumble than stock. Don't need to scare the kids and waking up the cats....or the other way around :D

Popped into my dealer today to give the MT it's first service and they have fitted the akrapovic to their demo. The vids I've seen don't really do it justice! The noise is incredible
 
Is that with the baffles out will ?
Mines sort of ok -good with them in
Not had chance to remove yet ..
 
Put on new levers, solid quality and fitment. Took me 20 min and I am not even good at these things :)
Only thing left for this season is the led indicators, then I will wait for the market to produce more alternatives for the exhaust and other parts!

Arrow fitted today. Took pictures but no time to upload for now as I have to go to work. Will try tomorrow.

Quick heads up. Removal of old system difficulty rating 3* (out of 10) Pretty straightforward apart from silencer end which I found it easier to loosen and bend out of the way the brake lever plate and gear change lever plate to gain access to the bolts. IMPORTANT though if you do choose to do this tape up the frame or you may well scratch it. Also my pipe retaining nuts were a bit loose so might well be worth checking yours whether you intend to fit an exhaust or not.

I wanted to fit my new exhaust shortie style without the middle pipe. Difficulty rating 4* Problem is fitting the silencer. I used one of the original silencer mountings on the frame but if you try and use the wrong one the silencer will hit the swinging arm. It's not a perfect fit, bit of a bodge so I may try and think of a way of improving on it.

Rest of the system fits very easily though the two front pipes are different and I couldn't easily see a way of distinguishing between them. So I guess it's down to trial and error. If you get it wrong it soon becomes pretty obvious.

As for the sound... With DB Killers in situ seems "loudest" at tickover. as you rev the bike seems to purr along nicely. Certainly louder than the original but not oppressive. Will have to go on a longer run to be sure though.

No unusual tools needed though a wobble bar for the sockets might help a bit.

Old system is VERY heavy compared to the new so the bike gets even lighter which is a bonus.

Another bonus is the DB Killers are held in with a circlip so very easy to change. Slight and simple mod to the clip would make it possible without tools !
 
Just a heads up, the police in the Lancashire area are going to have a blitz on illegal exhausts,
if your bike is found to have one then they will not only book you but check with your insurance
company, if it as not been declared then charges of having no insurance with likely seizure of
the bike or obtaining insurance by deception will very likely follow.
 
So how loud was it will ?
I tried to remove the baffles today but it's a rediculously stupid design and need to remove the exhaust again to do it !!!
I paid £680
For mine but where I got it from are not intending to sell it at that price again
