Drive chain puller deforming

I have just adjusted my chain slack for the first time
As I was doing so I noticed that the drive chain puller on the drive side was deforming as I loosened and re tightened the axle nut

As a guess, If it's only on one side, then you didn't have the wheel in square (taken too much slack out of one side). When you went to tighten it up, it pulled it in square again by gaining the extra mm or two by deformation on the ali block.

Looks a pig's ear now. Something for everyone else to watch out for.

last time i saw a pigs ear it was after a drunken 'grab a granny night' out in town....................14 years ago now.........:)
 
Mines also done that as well, bit odd but like what has already been said probably just cheap shit components used. Nice excuse to buy some trick Gilles adjusters though I suppose lol!!!

Mines fine, does look odd though. It seems the only way that could happen is if the axle is not tightened properly, and when on full throttle the chain is pulling the wheel forward, and deforming the ali blocks. If the axle nut was torqued correctly, the wheel would not move forward.
I'd say it was down more to poor maintenance (I assume it was the shop who should of torqued it up, I'd have a word with them)
 
I think this, ideally when adjusting the chain tension the flat of the spindle needs to be snug against the flat of the alloy adjuster block, here one of two things has happened, the adjuster has been pushed into the "corner" between flat and curve on the spindle whilst adjusting indicating the spindle wasn't fully slackened off, or the spindle has been torqued up whilst the adjuster block flat was not against the spindle flat and it has jammed the corner into the alloy, damage can be seen at the top and bottom where the corners have touched the alloy, this just could not happen if the flats of the spindle and adjuster are touching as they should be.
 
Simple solution to not getting this damage/problem. After adjusting the chain to the correct tension give the back wheel a knock forward and then jam a rag in the chain against the rear sprocket an that way the back wheel won't move backwards when torquing it back up. Always check that the block sits flush against the adjuster bolt as well

i just checked my bike and it marked from brand new, i havnt touched the chain yet.
