MT-07 Exhaust Sound & Essential Mods

well I put my baffler back in. 2 reasons. firstly the sound is way to loud without and can be deafening when in a quiet residential road like mine. secondly the engine timing seems to go out with it removed. What I mean is the engine begins to tap a lot more and also the bike seems to more difficult to ride. As you know the main reason for buying this bike amongst many things is the ease of ride. Being a new rider I just feel with the baffler removed it becomes a completely different bike.

So on noise ratings:-
OEM exhaust Rating 4. Akra with baffler 7 Akra with baffler removed 10.

On general quality of performance/riding ease OEM Exhaust 4 Akra with Baffler 10 Akra with bafller removed 8

Thanks, really helpful stuff.

Seems to me that most of us will invariably need/want to experiment.

I've got to wait ages for my bike now but when it does arrive, I suspect the system without the DB-killer will be too loud also.....full time anyway. Such a shame it's a faff to swap out.

I'm keen to see what other exhaust houses will have to offer...Although I have long been an Akrapovic fan :)

Enjoy your bike and if you do mod the DB-killer, please do let us know.

From what I heard; Mivv is going to make one hell of an exhaust for the MT 07, ,aybe they include an easier way to swap the muffler between in and out :)

heres the one for the mt09 : http://www.mivv.it/risorse/8/839/1124/Y042L9_STILL.jpg

Thanks.

Yes, Mivv are a top concern. Hope they bring something out that has a small form-factor like the Akra. Under-slug systems command a minimalist look in my opinion.

This bike is likely to be huge success and sell in decent numbers.....so options should be reasonably plentiful, I hope :)

It's probably needing the mapping fine tuned to run with the baffle out, along with a free flowing air filter it would release a few more horses as well

I walked in to my local dealer today (Crescent Bournemouth) and they had a white one fresh in. Not sure how as I thought next shipments were in September. Didn't ask if it was already sold though,

My "Arrow" system was marked as dispatched today (from Italy) so hopefully should turn up soon. First service booked for Friday so Saturday morning, if all goes to plan, I'll be fitting it.

By the way... this Friday is the 13th.

Do you know if it was ABS or not? I am awaiting my order from them and Frank tells me end of June/ early July.

I basically I am at my dealers mercy now; long story short, I turned down the bike I ordered after realising I absolutely must have ABS and mitigate my risks now I'm a family man.

Bottom line; they have my £500 deposit which they are kindly transferring to an ABS model when one becomes available. So I'm tied to one dealer now.

They are good guys actually, they've been great and I'm grateful for their understanding

I asked them about mapping and they said you cannot do this on the MT07.? Anyone no better?

By the way i've added the cat back in and left out baffler. A bit better. Seriously loud and deep. Iv'e cut the baffler pipes and doesn't make any real difference. Hope this info helps. Anyone wanting to trial theirs don't bother this baffle is a nightmare to get in and out and you will end up destroying the pipes. I will post a video shortly

Perhaps because the bikes so new, there aren't any maps available yet?

I'd have thought any ECU could be hacked for an alternative fuel map though?..

I'm not going down the power commander route, been there, broke the bank, got the average results to prove it.

If it's a case of sticking a can or full system on just for a sound track to match the rest of the bike, then that will do me. I'm not getting one of these for blistering performance, nor am I eager to improve on it from stock....it's brilliant as is; just want a meatier sound.

Good day, finally found a forum on my bike, apparently think it's pretty cool. wanted to respond to your comment, I think the standart sound is not too bad, but I have to admit that with a Akrapovic or an Arrow is way ahead.

Well according to the tracking info I'm getting. My Arrow has left Italy, arrived in Germany and left Germany at 1:57am this morning bound for the UK

First service on Friday then on goes the pipe. I intend to take photo's/video of the process so will post them on here.

I will fit it "long" style first then work out what needs to be done to fit it minus the extension.
