Why not? If the bike is capable take it where you like. Why just limit yourself to pavement?

Why not? Seriously? An MT-09 (or FZ-09 for you), you think this bike is designed with this kind of terrain in mind? You think it has good tyres for dirt and loose stones? You think the MT-09 has good ground clearance and suspension travel for these conditions?
Buy a KLX250 or a BMW GS 1200 or any other of the selection of bikes which is meant to go there and treat the MT-09 with some respect.

Treat it with respect? What are you, a twelve-year-old? It's just a machine, one that I paid for, and I'll do with it as I please. Somehow I can't see these bikes winning any concourse d'elegance. I'm using mine like the cheap little whore it is.
I think the MT would do great on trails with the right tyres. The bike's half supermoto anyway

That's what I was thinking. A decent set of trail tyres (tires) and maybe a sprocket change and it would make a great trail bike. Its light and has a lot of low-end grunt.

Obviously only me of the opinion thar the Mt is a road bike then. I'll keep my thoughts to myself from now on,
just to answer your question though I'm not a rwelve year old I'm forty two and as I paid for my bike I will treat mine with respect.

Think of the MT-09 as a multi-machine, a bit like Du-car-dii do with their Multistrada.
Perfect for the long road, the windy road, off-road and... (forgotten what the last was lol)
Anyhow, from another forum, this photo emerged in a thread about the TKC80 tires.
Now, then, add a 10 gallon fuel tank, and some square hard panniers and you're ready for your adventure

id love to keep mine pristine but ill be thrashing it round a 3rd world country where brand new tarmac with corners to die for (but hopefully not on..) turn to that mountain track in my pics in the blink of an eye. i had a choice of the MT or a hyperstrada............no brainer for me as i dont do over priced tat.

The mt is defo no off road bike even with its slightly longer than normal travel if i want to go off road id get a 300 ktm and give it full beans off road.
