So what mode are you in?

Blimey, 85 miles before reserve?
That not much, you sure you aren't against the stream in a river? ;)
I commute in through Manchester, 14 miles each way, and i manage around 110 before reserve, using Std mode

Not worked out mileage yet, but i do 160 mile commute a week on £15 . Thats the same as my tedium 900 but with 40 horsepower more and a big grin on my chops !

I am very proud !! lol. Been mostly in B mode ,lots of crap weather and still running in [800 miles] Dash showing about 58 mpg .That will do me ! Even when last block flashing on, still cant get more than £15 in tank.I rode to work and back [32miles] with fuel gauge blinking, and a sinking feeling in my gut , [forgot money] but made it to tescos! Hurrah !!

Unless you're running on red diesel :D .... then you should have about 11.5 litres for £15.
I think i'm good with getting just around the 115-120 for the same. But you are 25-33% higher.
Well, we are not equal all of us, and will have different riding styles - good on you!
I must admit, i envy that mileage!

Then be even more envious my friend, plodding about in the pissing down rain and wind today _ 61.8 mpg !! And that was in std mode ! I Think it must be a matt grey thing , better economy, no jerky power delivery, and dont need to clean it as much !! Having said that , popped into dealers today , and he had orange and deep armour ABS models in .Felt like the monkey with his hand stuck in a jar of peanuts !! Even the matt looked tempting and i allready got it !! What is wrong with me ?

Nothing wrong with you, Birdy.., as so..., it's just...

Well, confirming, the RaceBlu IS faster than the Matt grey :D

I leave my in std for most of the time and I find it fine, switch to A mode for the odd time when I am on a motorway or dual carriageway as it give a faster response for fun overtakes.

B mode is great for cruising around when the hooligan inside is feeling chilled. Talking of chilled I here you're getting it a bit bad back home with all the flooding and now the snow. Let's hope it sorts itself out soon.
On a brighter note I've found it too hot to ride in Aus on a few occasions (never thought I'd ever have to use that sentence) sorry guys :-)

W8ENN , too hot to ride eh ? My heart is pumping purple piss for you , it must be a nightmare living in oz !! LOL ! Psycho , riding in snow with probably worlds most wheel spinable bike ! RESPECT !

I usually ride in STD mode, with the occasional A mode when I'm in the mood for fun (e.g. meet a fellow motorcyclist at the stop lights), or in a hurry.

Today for a change, seeing that I was in no rush and thanks to W8ENN, I decided to chill out and drive home in B mode. The ride was fantastic! :)

It was more relaxed than usual, and real nice and smooth. I had totally forgotten how much smoother the B mode is than the other two modes. I really hope that someday Yamaha update all the ECUs, to make the mapping smoother in all modes, I don't plan on spending the money to get an external company re-flash it for me.
I thought to myself that I've finally freed myself from my maniac driving addiction, which started when I got the bike a few weeks ago.

I had so much fun, enjoying the relaxed ride home, that I decided to stick to B mode for my everyday commute, and reserve the other modes for special occasions. Perhaps it'll help me reduce my fuel consumption too. Since I've been driving it, the bikes average fuel consumption has gone up from 18 km/litre, when I bought the bike, to 15 km/litre... Which I blame mostly on my slightly aggressive riding style.

At the last leg of my drive home (about the last 5 km) after riding for about 20 minutes in the relaxed 'B' mode, I decided to switch over to 'A' mode. I figured it will be a good comparison, and stand as a contrast to my smooth ride, to remind me of the jerky and non-calm 'A' mode actually feels.
When the light turned green I twisted the throttle more or less the same amount as I've been doing in the B mode for the past 20 minutes... and shot off with a couple of unintentional small wheelies. I sped off like crazy, switching up the gears, leaning hard into a couple of turns, now THIS IS REAL FUN. I felt the adrenaline rushing through my veins, and knew that I'm hooked again.
To hell with the fuel consumption and relaxed riding, this is the reason I bought a hooligan bike in the first place :-D

Now that the adrenaline rush has worn off a bit, I think I will drive to work in B mode, after all.

I'm very decisive :)

This bike is just too much fun in all modes.

To those surprised about the high fuel consumption, here's mine: Yamaha MT-09 (Yamaha MT-09) | Fuelly

I haven't managed to get out on A roads much since I bought it and I've done most of my 1300 miles in Central London. With all that I usually get around 75-85 miles out of the tank (which only took in 13 litres when I ran out of fuel 20 metres from the petrol pump).

I went to see my dealer this Saturday to fix my camchain noise and rode from E15 to Carshalton mostly on A roads (around 20 miles). I had 2 bars left in the tank before I departed and I only filled up on my way back from there. You can see an instant jump in mpg on Fuelly - 34 to 41! So that goes to show that you can get good fuel economy if you are not stuck between endless traffic lights.

I'd be curious to see what Crotchrocket's consumption is seeing how he also lives in Central London and does a similar type of commute.

N.B.
Just to disperse any misunderstandings - blazing orange IS the fastest out of them all, not race blu like some people here seem to think!

Did they replace your cam chain? My dealer's reaplacing mine as soon as it arrives, so they told me after my 600mile service last week.

I don't think they replaced it, I think they only adjusted the tensioner.

My issue was the tensioner becoming slack. They fixed it during my first service but it came back some 50 miles later. I rode for about 500 miles with the noise but eventually got sick of it an decided to go in and see them. Took them 40 minutes to fix it, however, the service guy said that Yamaha have released a new part and that he already ordered it, meaning that it will arrive some time soon and I should return and have it replaced at some point.

I was there on Saturday so obviously no news as of yet.
