MUST Adjust Suspension

changing down for a junction rapidly earlier, whilst on a shallow corner and BLOODY HELL the bike got into a fuss. Back end was juddering around, front end started dipping and whaling around trying to start a tank slapper……Note to self, don't try and back a stock MT-09 into a corner……will crash and die

Been there and done that. Time to stiffen things up and start saving for new suspension.

Slipper clutch wud be great. I've done exactly wot crotchrocket did coming into a massive roundabout. Came in a bit hot, knocked it down a cog and the back end locked up, started jumping up an down etc. ended up comin off the roundabout slightly broadside lol. So used to having the slipper clutch on my gixxer I guess.

Ive not had a slipper clutch before, but I was expecting it to start sliding the rear end in a sort of 'controlled' manor when I jumped down the gears but it just went crazy!

Problem is. Cause the front end is soft in suspension, (the back end also) it makes the back end light when braking hard. Reminds me of the 1st model R1i used to race. Which was still an awesome machine. Most of my v twins do it also. I say. Enjoy it, as the bike is so light you can get away with alot. Do a bit of suspension adjustment, or if your a bit on the festively plump side.Like me, an upgrade might be in order.

I'm suffering man flu at the mo, managed to go to the ace last night on the Drifter but sat indoors today drinking hot toddies, so I'll definitely bugger about with it tomorrow

I'm going to have another day fettling I'm still not happy- I think it's actually wound up too much at 6 as the bloody thing seems to be sitting on the springs taking away most of its stroke and bottoming out on harsher bumps!

The bike is not that too soft, its under damp. Damping is so bad that its not even funny.

Im 190 with gear and use the ZX-10 shock with the 9.1kg/mm (oem 9.7) plenty stiff just better damping. Need to work on the front end now...

Can't find my bloody manual. It had a section on adjusting suspension. Anyone got an online link to the manual or can take a scan?? I just remember some maximum and minimum Settings written in there about the fork preload

Same here playing with the settings.
My rear shock is now on the last to highest notch for spring tension, with the damping adjuster screwed all the way in and backed off 1/8 turn. This works pretty well on my local bumpy roads, but means I'll have to play some more with the front (again).
The front seems to dive with the slightest whiff of front brake, but at least the pogo effect has been dialed out. Progressive springs for £80ish might just be the cheapest option to make the bike 80% where I would like it to be.
There is no way I'll be sending £1000's on getting it perfect.

All the sun we had yesterday and I spent it at bloody "pepper pig world" with my wife and two boys.....did have a great time tho ?

Suspension adjusted today. Feels much better, although i only went around the block.

Also fitted a new switch for the Kliktronic shifter that sits under the handlebar, so i can finally reach the horn!! Meant i had to rotate the bars forward a bit though, so the new switch didn't hit the tank.
