just got a phone call today 20/9 from my local dealer (cmc motorcycles Cannock UK) to tell me the MT-09 as just arrived at the shop. so get yourselves down there to see this bike in the flesh.

well further to my first post I have just been down the shop to see, sit on and start bike up.......
this is a first class well put together machine it really is a stunning bit of kit with the exception of the r1 and the two trail bikes 660 & 1200 it made everything in the shop look very old hat.
the frame, swingarm, paint, fit and finish this bike is a WINNER.

Just rang my local dealer in the Isle of Man an the Mt09 has just arrived.
Got a test ride on Wed afternoon, can't wait.
Dealer only getting two in though so might have to pull the trigger pretty soon.

I rode one on Saturday at my local dealers. 
. Got called a bought a week ago say it'll be end Sept beginning or Oct before they would get their demo bike in and it actually arrived unannounced and surprised the dealer who then rang me to come in the next day.
To be honest the test route was rubbish, too short and it was follow the sales chap, but it was enough to get the feel of what it's like. PLENTY of grunt in any gear, but found when moving at 20 ish mph going from a fully closed throttle to opening it ever so slightly to back to 30 mph VERY snatchy and jerky unless it's in B mode, with the other 2 mode "A" & "STD" being more suited to open road riding.
I loved the lightness and how easily it changes direction and the engine just sound sweet :thumbup::thumbup:
Niggles - the seat is too sloped to the rear, I'm 6'1" tall and need to sit back a little from the tank, I dont like all the engine cover hex head bolts being different colour to the engine
I wanted to really like this but the package unfortunately it's not for me. Undoubtedly the engine and chassis will be used as a platform for different packaging and I'll hoping for something half faired with a few litres bigger tank , a kind of triple Fazer
My main reason for test riding was to check out the engine which has sold me on the prospect of a triple for my next bike

senior thanks for post with real world pics and test, Yamaha have said they do not want everyone to love the bike, and I understand them on this they need bikes that you do not just walk past and ignore. there are many bikes that I would not buy but still stop me and make look. when in a dealership there are too many bikes that I just walk past hornet, z800, xj 6 and lots more. I also agree with you that this is a engine and chassis with many great applications to come.

Well I could not wait and managed to get my test ride moved to today.
Sorry no pics as I'm still living in the dark ages with my crappy Nokia.
My very quick summary.
Motor, brakes and gearbox awesome.
Suspension felt a bit budget especially the rear.
Looks a bit top heavy and out of balance.
Riding position felt all wrong to me,footpegs to far back and if you moved your feet further forward the r/h engine case gets in the way.
Seat is slanted to far forward and quite uncomfy.
Riding modes: b is very smooth, std and A bit snatchy but no worse than any aprilia ride by wire throttles I've used.
I had my cheque book with me to order one there and then but I could not bring myself to do it.
Senior hit the nail on the head regarding the motor being a great base for other models.
Please don't let me put you off thou, just defiantly get a test ride before you buy.
I rec with the Yamaha adjustable footrests/comfort seat and some wider rental bars and a suspension revalve she would be a goer.
Did I mention that the motor was mega!!!!!!
Oh and it wheelies like a gud un!!!!

I had a quick test ride yesterday through Wigan Yamaha.
The bike is a devil in disguise... absolutely a treat with its engine, that is so violently powerful, it make you lift the front when acceleration over a chip on the tarmac...
The clutch is like the softest butter i've ever cut a knife through - you can operate with 2 fingers only with ease.
Handling is just superb; only minutes after i got up on it, i felt how i could throw it through corners.
The 3 modes are easy to set, easier than on Multistrada. B-mode is a bit better than the Multi's Urban, Standard seems just right - despite what have been said (written) in some other reviews.
A-mode is like the good Aprilia's Sport mode - sensitive, but max throttle. To my knowledge is power delivery the same in all three modes, though B-mode comes more slowly in the lower part of the range.
Pro's:
Everything, except where the lock for seat have been placed (Underneath arm for numberplate mount)
Extremely competitive price.
Brilliant for commuting in through cities
Con's:
Your license.

I've booked another test ride for tomorrow to see if the MT09 grows on me a bit more. I keep reading all these rave reviews so going for it again.
I will take it for a lap of the TT course and see how she fares.

Hey guys, It's done! I've just bought my MT-09 Race Blue today!
It should be available within 2 or 3 weeks. I'm sooo excited!
I took it with the windscreen, radiator covers, low engine guards and the aluminum chain guard. The Race Blue color was a €100 extra but it looks so great. I'll post pictures soon as I can.

- Windscreen: €130,00
- Engine guards: €200,00
- Radiator side covers: €90,00

But my dealer did it for €450,00. The bike itself was €8070,00 (race blu, standard version, no ABS).

Congratulations - I've put down deposit and arranged finance today, Race Blu as well - no extras though... Picking up Friday(when the weather forecast of course promise "Thundery Showers"....)
