Bouncy Bouncy

Thats what I notice the most. To get the rear to work alright (not great) I had to give too much preload with no free sag. All fix now. 13mm free sag, 38mm rider sag and I have 10mm still left in stroke with the 9.1kg/mm spring. Thats at same static ride height as stock. Bang for the $ the ZX-10 setup is hard to beat. Event buying a spring alone is more expensive... without the sake result.

So wot is ur set up then!?? And how much do u weigh?
I have the front showing 2 rings on the preload and the damping screw turned fully hard and half a turn back. The rear is set to 7 and the screw is the same as the front. Set to hard and turned back half. I'm 13st 4lb by the way

.85 kg/mm front with 5T preload and 10W oil. The rear is as I said previously. This is not a track setup. I tested the 9.7kg/mm and felt a bit too stiff to me. Im kind of right on the fence sort of. So I sticked to the 9.1 spring.

Im 185 lbs. The adjuster are about in the middle... I installed my new shoes this week... need to fine tune a bit now.

My last bike was a GPX250 and the suspension was ridiculously soft, so hopping on the MT felt pretty hard (i also weigh 74kg).

I bought my MT09 with 400km on it. Kept hearing all these reviews that the suspension was soft and bouncy, but mine felt fine, not that I am experienced in that field at all!

Finally decided to see if I could improve my suspension due to everyone complaining about it, and I find out that the rebound front and rear are completely screwed in (maximum damping), and that the preload is pretty much perfect for my weight already. The previous owner must have done it within the 400km that he did.

So I left it, since it was already set up 'for me' haha.

Right - as planned I've been out fettling all frickin day trying to dial this thing in

Finally settled on rear on 6 but prob go up to 7 on the spring
Rebound settled in at a turn out

The front I just can't get happy with at all!!
Settled on 4 rings showing and rebound out 3/4

Never measured sag I know I should but I was just riding same road same speed after every turn and click of suspension so the "by the arse of my pants" method was as tech as it got!

The bike I tracking a hell of a lot better than when it came from dealer but I will still have a wee fiddle again I'm sure, it still didn't few absolutely planted like I know bikes can!

Maybe I should just grow a bigger pair and ride around it ya big wuss!!!

Lol that's almost the same set up as me. Except I'm on 7 at the rear and half a turn out and only 2 rings showing with half a turn out on the front. Handles like my gixxer 750 and that to me is quality..!
Keep fettling my dear, keep fettling lol

Lol I'm well aware of local dialects from spending so long in the forces. U get to learn all manner of sayings and phrases for things haha

Cant b as bad as Birdy with his vast array of lump hammers lol

I do indeed have an impressive array of heavy metal .Mate of mine is quite handy with suspension mods .. he replaced the shocks on his 400/4 with inch box section if anyones intrested....? Mind you, he also owned a 9 foot long springer front end hard tail chop which he swore was awesome in the bends.. all his credabillity was lost tho , when his home welded extended handle bars snapped when he was getting it out of his shed .I wet myself .

Yes well being a bit of a nob, couldnt log on TT , password was not accepted ? So... bringing the full force of my computer know how (?) into play, spent the last few days using my arrray of lump hammers to quite literally crack the problem... this did not work however so my 13 year old daughter did it ! Did ask my 20 year old Rodney Troter look alike to do it , but told me to piss off...
