Possible, I have no idea.
How many models and maps are out for this bike?
I was only aware of two, the MT-09 and the FZ-09...
I do not know, different countries, different emissions regulations why not different maps then?
i got 1 of each mate, they are NOT the same bike. the FZ A mode is closer to the MT B mode
If that's the case then I'm getting the flash this thread started out about !!
We do seem to have trailed off somewhat haven't we...!

Bringing it back into line....
I'm thinking of getting the Yam flash done under warranty, then get this flash done. That way Yam have a record of their's being done so
won't try to do it again & wipe out this guy's good work

I'm sure u already know this Pete but Yamaha can't MAKE u have this ECU flash and they are NOT aloud to flash it without ur consent...i.e when they have it for a periodic service...or for ANY other work u get them to carry out...

If it's anything like the car world (which I now work in) then this is a product enhancement that they have developed to better the product you have purchased. Most car manufacturer's release a new model, then carry on developing/refining it as they go along (and customers complain about certain things). When I was last spannering on bikes you used to count the flash sequence on the ECU for a fault, not plug the thing in lol!
Considering the widespread coverage this issue has had I wouldn't be surprised if Yam issued it as a recall, which you then have to get done.
Really? A few years back I took my Speed Triple in for a service and when I collected it they informed me they'd re-mapped it / flashed it as part of the service.
Had no idea or warning they were going to do it.
No complaints though as it improved the bike!

I think that is what will happen...a discreet way of fetching all the MT09 models into line.....as part and parcel of the service...might be a good thing! (Time will tell!)

Been reading this trhead with interest. Its a line I have been thinking about a great deal. Nice to see there is a healthy amount of discussion/argument/disagreement/issues etc. Good to see what looks like an argument generating into healthy debate 
! Im going down the suspension route first. Ive ordered Ohlins rear shock [500] and fork springs [90] from FTR suited for my bodyweight [fat bsatard !] to be fitted in the next couple of weeks when the arrive and I can get over to Bury St. Edmonds. [I prefer my bike to handle first, go faster second !] At the moment, I do have issues with the off/on throttle but I am getting to learn my way round it. [using 3rd rather than 2nd out of roundabouts/corners and letting the torque do the work. Ill let you guys do the groundwork. Im not going to go the Yammy reflash route or the other reflash routes. Well not yet !
TT. One question. My old Thundercat had a front wheel driven speedo. Not having looked, does the 09 have a gear driven speedo drive ? Can the reflash make the speedo read more accurately ?

The "Speed sensor" is located just above the front sprocket mate.
I will have to get back to u ref the accuracy of it from the flash...

Apparently, the re-flash started about 6 weeks ago in Italy and is just being rolled out in the U.S. A report on the U.S. Site is saying that the snatch has totally gone and the bike has still retained is acceleration and speed qualities...just for everyones update...more news as and when it appears!

Lamba told me they get paid half of their normal hourly rate for warranty repairs. So if their hourly rate is e.g. £50 then Yamaha would be paying them £25 for as long as they quote (supposedly).
That sounds about rite mate. Obviously dealer dependant on their rates.
Only real test is getting on one thats been done and riding it I reckon.
