    Ohlins fork spring question

Evening all I stuck a pair of the lovely Ohlins springs in the front and kept the oil the same so as to change one thing at a time. I'm now ready to change the oil for something thicker. Anyone got any experience of this and any advice/tips etc. Ta much, Fluke

Bad experience with fully synth oil

last week i did my 1 year service and used yamahas 10w40 full synth oil, I had done about 150klm and noticed at full operating temp the engine was noisy-er than usual tappet rattle chain tick gear box roll over noise in neutral and harshness at mid torque in the rev range bit the bullet and...

    Oil stains?

I noticed the other day, while checking my oil level, that the yamaha belly pan inside had some strange stains.. I am not sure if it is oil or grease, or something like that.. But definitely it is not dirt from the road.. Have you noticed anything similar.. By the way the oil level was where it...

Crashed damaged clutch and oil pump covers

Hi guys and gals, Finally got my new covers fitted onto my bike and don't plan on keeping the old ones. Not sure if they'll come in handy for someone else. I have a clutch and oil pump cover for sale on eBay if anyone is interested or knows someone that wants them. I had them both on the...

    Oil consumption

I am thinking about an MT-09. I have owned a number of non-Japanese bikes, a BMW R1100GS, KTM 950 Adv, Buell Ulysses, and they all used a fair amount of oil between oil changes. None of the Japanese bikes I've owned have used a drop. Does the MT-09 use any? I'm rather hoping not.

    Cracked engine - leaking oil

So I just started the first oil change on my 400 mile MT. Changed filter no problem. Drained oil no problem. Went to tighten up the bolt when I noticed there was a crack about 4cm long running underneath the casing. I'm sure I didn't over tighten it, I only have a little torque wrench and I...

Like a pogo stick on steroids! Help wanted please.

I exaggerate a bit of course but... Since putting Ohlins springs in my otherwise completely standard forks, with standard ten weight oil, my front forks are stiffer but a bit bouncy. What I mean is they compress and rebound a bit quickly. My mechanic suggested a heavier fork oil but I wanted to...

    12k service

Just a quick one guys... What have you been paying for a 12k service at your dealers? Got quoted £260 today.. Is that a bit steep? Thought it was just oil, filter and plugs at the 12k?? Cheers...

A tad less responsive after first 1000km oil change..

Interesting, I found that after my first oil change was done from new at 1000km it was a tad less responsive.., but only a tad .. I guess the break in oil is thinner..? I have serviced the with Liqui Moly (street) 10w40 semi synthetic.. (the bike is not over filled upright just under the upper...

First Oil change of my MT-09 @450KM'S (Late I know)

Just a video of what the oil looked like coming out of my sump today when I drained the oil for the first time, I was a bit iffy as to why I would drain the oil before its first service as the owners manual and the dealer both say to get its first at 1000k's but I implore everyone to change...

    oil overfilled from new

Picked up my MT07 today - torture obeying running in limits but glad I did - when I got home I checked oil level to find no bubble - had to lean bike about 10 degrees away from me before any air was visible! I ended up removing 150ml with a catheter & syringe (to avoid having to guess as oil ran...

As the title says i just did the 10.000km service in my MT.. After long discusion with my "oil guy" i bought ELF MotoTech 10w50 again. The reason is that for 5000km i had smooth and quite changes in gearbox, stable engine temperatures and when it came out was silky and oily a lot when i touch...

    Oil Change

What oil should I use for a 3000 mile oil change? semi/fully etc? Any recommendations please

    Fork Oil ?

Acquired some ohlins fork springs off of a member. Ohlins recommend their 01309 oil which is 19 centistoke at 40 degrees (WTF?) Now that's not readily available and no doubt will cost a fortune so what SAE fork oil should I use? I'm guessing 5 or 10W ?

    Magnetic Oil Sump Drain Plug?

Does anyone know if the oil sump plug is magnetic from the factory? I haven't been able to find details of the plug, it's size or an MT-07 specific aftermarket plug yet. My bike turns up in 47 days and this is for me the first modification to do before running in gets too far along.
