    New Screen

Looks like it's designed to fit around a round headlight. Personal opinion is it looks the most fugley thing anyones attached to a bike ;) But if it works for you that's the most important thing :)

ECU Reflash using Velox Racing FTECU

Have no idea about Macs, I guess so, but best bet is simply go to their website, that's where you'll find all the prices and options etc. With VAT it's was aroundthe £400 area. All the software is free to download as part of the package. You get the ECU tuning software and a couple of maps...

    Stock Exhaust Mod

Hi, thanks for posting, that was a good video, gave me all the info I needed before I opened it up to start attacking it (y) I just felt it looked a bit too raucous for me, I just wanted a deeper tone but not much more volume and with an easy mod (no need to add the perforated pipe etc), but I...

How do i remove the radiator from the bottom bracket?

Looks like it's simply a rod that you slide the radiator off. Release the top brackets and then you pull the top of the radiator forward to clear the brackets, then slide the whole radiator to the right, so it slides off that rod.

    Plast-dip'ed the Tracer

Yeah no need for primer etc - just degrease and spray on. I peeled it off the one headlight shroud as I wasn't happy with the finish (was still getting used to using it) and it peeled off fine. It sit's passively on the surface and shouldn't affect the paint underneath - it's been out years...

    What Bluetooth music phone headset

My mate has an interphone headset, says it's really good. I've just pulled the trigger on the Sena headset with built in camera. Probably a bit pricier than you're looking for, but I use a helmet cam all the time and so like the idea of the two in one option.

    Plast-dip'ed the Tracer

Yeah it's under the fluorescent tubes of the garage lights so the colour isn't really very accurate. Easy enough to do if you're handy with a rattle can and use the same principles - make sure surface is spotless and degreased, then apply thin coats, allowing them to dry enough to be tacky but...

    Plast-dip'ed the Tracer

I've got a matt silver Tracer, but always liked the look of the red ones (a friend was selling this one and I knew it had been well looked after so made sense to go for it), so decided to try out the plasti-dip. I noticed plasti-dip have brought out a new(ish) metallic range so tried it out...

What brand and type of oil ?

A dealer will always tell you to use the official Yamaha stuff though. I can't see how a (good) aftermarket oil filter will cause any problems. They are designed to be direct replacements and a reputable brand shouldn't cause any problems. That said, I do often just go with the OEM stuff if...

    Stock Exhaust Mod

Yeah it's a nice little mod isn't it? Not too loud but really improves that low end rumble and 'bark', which is exactly what I was after.

    Hi from Lichfield

Sale on at the moment, down to 130, but their prices are usually ex-VAT so don't forget that will be added on. I can't vouch for the maps they use - the 'unlimited' one that I can download is basically the stock map with all the limiters removed, but little is done to the actual fueling. I'm...

    Hi from Lichfield

Hi there. A fair bit of info on here with regards suspension. Mine has a Nitron on the rear and the handling is massively improved, so much so that I'm actually happy with the stock front, but others have upgraded the front too with good results, I've recently reflashed my ECU using the Velox...

    Clutch rattle

You can normally hear a slight change in noise when the lever is pulled in, but it shouldn't be a 'rattle' on a bike with a wet clutch as these are. However I think they brought in the slipper clutch in 2017 which could be the noise you're hearing - someone else may be able to confirm but I'm...

    Stock Exhaust Mod

Thanks, yeah I'm really pleased with it - I also wanted to keep the stock look, but just get that little extra tone to the exhaust note. Came into work on it this morning and really pleased with it. Even with ear plugs in I can hear a nice low rumble at idle and it's got a nice growl on the...

    Stock Exhaust Mod

Well exhaust swapped over now, a quick dab of copper grease on the studs (might as well while its off) and the mod exhaust in its place. I'm really happy with the outcome to be honest, which is more a happy accident as it's all guesswork, but the tone is much deeper and a slight rasp but not...

    Stock Exhaust Mod

Had a bash at the exhaust yesterday. The one I got from eBay is practically brand new - I reckon the guy selling it must have bought the bike then pretty much straight away got an aftermarket exhaust and simply flogged this to scrape a little money back. Crazy really, for the price of the...

    Uncomfortable seat

I went for a Tourtecs airseat, which is basically identical to Air Hawks but a lot cheaper. Overall I don't like the effect of air seats though. Even with hardly any air in I find them you end up "rolling" with them under braking and acceleration.

Best and Worst MPG from your bike?

Don't take it too easy - with running in it's important not to go over the revs they specify, but you still need to give it some welly now and again to get the rings to seat. Also don't stay in one gear (like on motorways etc), but move through the gears all the time as the whole lot is being...

    MT09-SP: Worth breaking?

Depends. If it's a perfectly good bike at that mileage I'd say you'd have to be mad to break it. Selling in bits can be worth it, but you need the space and time and patience to take it apart and wait for the items to sell. It could be over 6 months before you see a worthwhile return as parts...
