Give it a go you are an engineer, I worked out my O2 Controller 6 months before Dyno Jet brought theirs to market, here is a little show & tell of a competitors O2 controller I am sure you can work it out from here.

Is it me or is something getting lost in translation ?

Fecking buy one off ebay !!!!! :)

The problem being I don't to post to Poland & a few other countries, in the past I have had post go missing & I have had to replace the mods at my expense so I don't post to those countries any more, Africa & Spain being the worst offenders, the UK & USA I have never had any mail go missing. I have no problem every now & again with a parcel going missing but when I have a few in a row to the same country I stop posting there.

Sold my KTM SDR Remus exhausts to a guy from Poland.
What a carry on and never again,insisted on his own courier who couldnt find my address,then rang me at least twice a day at all hours for 5 days until he got them.
Kept telling me he was skint and that he hoped i had been honest with description.
I even sold them off the forum and had loads of 100% feedback from the other members.
Sometimes you just cant do anything right.
Other countries and occupants are available for this and not just Poland LOL
 
Does 02 controller/aftermarket pipe affect fuel consumption much? I've done two mods recently - the o2 controller and also replaced stock exhaust system with the Akra Titanium. In the past I've done 240-250km between fills numerous times with the stock setup, that's with most of my riding on the open road.

Should I expect a decrease in range with these two mods? I haven't been out for a proper spin yet.

Oh wow, judging whole country by one guy/situation, so... You in UK run naked and drunk and offend ladies all the time? Because every time I see Brits in Europe they do just that. Beside do not rant on Poland or I send more of us to UK;-)
 
can we take the Poland stuff to another thread please? on another forum? don't worry about posting a link either, I'm not that interested.

funny you should say that but im just on my way to pub to get drunk and offend some ladies whilst naked but afraid its still far too cold for the nakedness.

Thanks for your feedback I will have a look at the fitting instructions to see if I can make the removal of the OEM connector from the bracket clearer, let us know what you think when you have ridden the bike a bit more.

The mod really works, the bike is definitely smoother and more pleasant to ride.



Now that I've read a few of your explanations and also felt the difference with and without the mod, I've got a question.
Is there any need at all for the closed loop stage, from a riders perspective (putting aside environment protection)?
It seems to me that if we could set the bike to only used the open loop map, everything would be better and smoother.

From what I understood your controller modifies the O2 sensor's square wave output, in order to show a leaner mixture, which causes the ECU to inject a richer mixture which is close to the open loop mixture. This is great as it's a plug and play solution, which doesn't require any modification to the ECU.
Assuming we could re-flash the ECU software such that it never consults the closed loop, rather it always uses the open loop wouldn't we be better off?

I reflash the KTM 990 ECU's myself & turn off the closed loop so it can be done, one thing we have found on the KTM's when turning off the closed loop is it affects the L trim tables at different altitudes when the engine load changes, the ECU uses the O2 sensor voltage not only for closed loop mapping but for the L trim calculations for altitude compensation & air density, F trims are TPS/RPM inputs & L trims are intake vacuum /RPM inputs, the F/L trim switch's between each other constantly depending on the TPS, engine load & RPM range, to compensate for this problem I reflash the 990 with a lowered F/L switch points so the ECU is forced to run only in the open loop from 2% upwards, below that it I still use the intake manifold vacuum inputs for better idle control, this solution seems to work for us, it also allows for a better PCV custom map import into the OEMs ECU as a PCV can only change the F trims TPS/RPM & cant change pressure/RPM L trim tables.

As an example you might ask why have F & L trim tables one reading the TPS & the other reading Intake manifold vacuum, in short if you hold your hand in one place & fix the throttle in one place the TPS will remain at lets say 20% on a flat road, when we hit a hill with our TPS still fixed at 20% the ECU in the F table will still be at the same fuel cell & injecting the same amount as if we were on the flat, this is when the L trim tables sees a change as the intake manifold pressure & that it is now changing because the motor is put under more load because of going up the hill & the ECU now looks at the TPS/RPM in the back round & focus on the Intake manifold/RPM input signal & adjusts the A/F ratio to compensate for the engine load difference but you still have throttle control via the TPS, so in short the L trim tables are there to fine tune the motor, running in the back round looking at load changes & uses input signals from the intake manifold sensor, altitude sensor, coolant temp, RPM, TPS, O2 sensor voltage.

I contacted Flash Tune directly months ago & they have not been able to do it as yet but am sure it will eventually come out one day, I have already worked out how to turn off the closed loop circuit on my MT09 so the bike only runs in the open loop but the bike will require a full remapping for the open loop map & the mod needs to be plumed into the cooling system, I used to make the mod back in 2010 for the XT660 & can confirm it works on the MT but no longer build this mod. I updated the mod 3 times but found more riders could not install the mod easily & did not get custom maps built & I eventually worked out how to built my present plug & play O2 controller.

I could post the XT thread post that has every detail on how I did it but this is a MT forum & I no longer build this O2 eliminator mod as the O2 controller took it's place, just double click on one of the photo's below to see the rest of the XT photo's to get a general idea if you are interested.

Kev, while riding the bike is there a point where you know the closed loop circuit is in operation. Does the eco light on the dash have any meaning for this?
Asking because I've also got an EJK controller and am wondering at what revs/speed/load the EJK is in control?
 
Mine arrived yesterday, quality piece of kit, and only a week from Oz. Cheers Kev.
Chucking it down here, so will hopefully fit tomorrow.

The ECO light does not reflect open & closed loop circuits, it is a calculation guide line to economy.

I was on the Dyno this past Saturday building a custom map for my Akra Carbon on the MT, using Tune link tuning software we could remap my bike in the closed loop & open areas all to 13.2:1 by loading up the Dyno brake so the bike does not switch to the closed loop circuit at all, my O2 controller + OEM O2 sensor was connected all the time. I now have a O2 controller that targets an Air fuel ratio of 13.6:1 in the closed loop & when I wack open the throttle at any TPS position or RPM I have an open loop A/F ratio of 13.2:1.

It is very hard to feel the actual switch points between the open & closed loop maps, that is why I measure everything so I can see what is going on.
 
O2 controller arrived and fitted. One week from ordering from Oz is pretty good going, plus a very professional piece of kit. Many thanks Kev
 
Any news on the derestrictor mod kev?
The Yamaha ECU has thrown some curve balls at the mod which I did not see coming but have thought of a way round the curve ball, will be back on the Dyno soon.
Excuse me guys - I think I missed your point here. Is there a Yamaha update on the way? Will it (a) somehow restrict/disallow the way we trick our ECUs voltage input coming from the O2 sensor through Kev's mod, or were you (b) referring to a completely different mod that would 'unchain' our MTs and Yamaha could possibly be working on preventing it?
