So today I took out the OEM chain adjuster blocks as they are made of cheese.....

And put in some nice shiny titanium Gilles ones.....

thats around 100£ yamaha better pay for it. Will speak with dealer when I get to first service. Mine has a mark already and I havnt even touched them yet.

All the bikes that I have seen so far have some sort of damage on the adjuster blocks... Yamaha say that "at the moment"! It's not causing them concern as not many (they wudnt tell us how many)! customers have complained...my advice to anyone who has ANY signs of damage on their adjuster is to go to the dealership and tell them that you wud like a replacement and when they fit said replacement they will see it happening all over again and then they will HAVE to get onto Yamaha and report their findings...

Personally I think Yamaha said to Gilles..."I know, we will make a few things on the bike out of cheese and then u make the aftermarket version which will be better and we will split the profits"!
 
theres a cheap fix for that n its to screw a bit of flat plate over the deformed area to make it thicker.......get rip on the case as hes an engineer......i only got access to chipboard n panel pins..:rolleyes:
 
A better modification might be to add material to the wheel spindle head turning it from a circle with a small flats machined on it into a Trapezoidal design.

The longer side of the trapezoid can be extended up to the block markings to provide over twice the face contact area than the stock design.

This would severely reduce block deformity by simply reducing the leverage of the spindle head contact point.

ill race you then n see who bodges 1 up first......im eyeing up some shelf brackets right now............wheres yer old blocks Trips?

ah yeah! i have tons of feeler blades i never use now since the death of the ford anglia and the metro..........
 
mine are ok at the mo but if they bend after going to the dealers for some new boots I will be putting in for a claim as they are not fit for use.
 
I think the problem is the spindle turning when you retighten the wheel nut......and the fact it seems to be made of some strange plastic/alloy . I should point out i am not a qualified engineer , but i do own some fuck off big hammers .

No not plastic/alloy... It's made of cheese...

I cancelled my order with this site because, although they did not have them in stock, they never informed me of this until 2 days after they took my money. Then they explained that they are not the manufacturer but only trade as Lightechuk because they are their UK rep. Their company is actually Reactive Parts: Performance Motorcycle Race bike Parts UK

They also explained they only restocked Lightech products each Wednesday and for a delivery to be made it had to be placed by them with Lightech by the previous Thursday. I cancelled the order and bought the 4Racing versions instead from here. Saved a lot of money as well!

I am very happy with the 4Racing versions.

I ordered mine from a online shop from Portugal. Should be getting them next week.
