Changed the original chain & sprockets last night, chain was getting tightspots, and setting the chain slack at the tight spot meant I was getting about 50mm slack at the loose spots! Used one of those cheap ebay breaker/riviter tools (about £12) and everything went well, soft link flared out...

Measuring the chain slack is not easy: A ruler is not easy to position, you get dirty.... So I have made this simple instrument with a picece of hard wood. Cut an angle of the piece and mark the zone width a with from 44mm to 49mm. The recomended slack is 51mm to 56mm but measured to the center...

Noticed my chain looked slack on checking free play it was 50mm the handbook says it should be 5-15mm that chain has stretched some in 3000 miles has anyone else experienced this

Quick word of warning to those with new bikes especially. Checked my chain tension at 390 miles for first time this morning (I know, I should use it more, and clearly should have checked it more especially), despite correct running in procedure ie not revving the nuts off it or pulling wheelies...

Just wondering if the manual for the tracer shows the same amount of chain slack as the mt09, or have they corrected it?
