This is my major gripe with the MT09 tracer. To me it looks exactly the same as the NC700 / 750, whatever it is now. I'm sure they're good bikes, but as you say, they are pretty dull to look at.

That still fits. The stalling issue has nothing to do with the clutch, it happens when the engine is at tickover, just as you open the throttle. There is no jerk, just the engine dies. The ignition, as you say, stays on. It's a fueling problem.

The oil light would go on if the engine stopped with the ignition on, that's normal. When you restart it goes off. The MT07 can be prone to stalling, as you blip the throttle from tickover, the engine just dies. When you had this happen, were you at a standstill, about to move off? The symptoms...

Mines standard, and comparing with GPS it's pretty much spot on. Maybe 1-2 MPH depending on what speed I'm doing. Have you got standard tyres on yours?

I use Rockoil chain lube. WD40 is too thin, it'll fling / wash off in minutes. Mine's at about 15,000 miles / about 24,000 km, and barely run in. Have adjusted it twice in that time. It'll do easy 25k miles / 40k km.

Scim77 - just a reminder, check the head bearings if you're finding it wanders. They seem to be good for no more than about 10k miles - if the bike is still in warranty you should be able to get them done. Not having a centre stand, it's easy to miss.

As you'd remember, the MT03 had bar end weights that had their own gravitational pull. I've still got mine, I changed for Renthals and put small ones on, then someone nicked the bike. They weight about 3/4 of a ton each.

Shutting the stable door here, but the Abus Victory disk lock will actually fix through the hole on the upright part of the passenger footpeg. I sometimes do that with mine if I'm just hopping from one place to another.
